Flashlight Frog

Flashlight Frog is a Creature in the MetaZoo Trading Card Game, based off of the Cameroon, Africa cryptid of the same name. Its Aura Type and many other details about it are unknown at this time.

Flashlight Frog was introduced in November 2024, as a pre-release promotional preview. It was the first Creature previewed by GameQbator Labs after their acquisition and revival of the MetaZoo TCG. It had previously appeared as a Beastie Page of the Forest Aura type in the original MetaZoo game, after debuting in the Fan Art Contest of 2022.

Description

The Flashlight Frog appears as a bulbous amphibian with the features of a frog and the body shape of a toad. It has green skin, and a long yellow tongue. It glows from the inside so brightly that its belly is white, and beams of light emerge from its eyes - just like the beams of a flashlight.

History

The Flashlight Frog has appeared in both the original and revival versions of the MetaZoo TCG.

MetaZoo Games (2020 - 2024)

The Flashlight Frog debuted as a playable Beastie Page in 2022 as part of that year's Fan Art Contest mini set, appearing on the card Flashlight Frog (Fan Art Contest 2022). As with all cards in this mini set, there was one version of the card featuring the winning artwork by Corey Peralta from the Fan Art Contest, and another version of the card featuring an alternative artwork done by MetaZoo Games' illustrator PONCHO.

GamesQbator Labs (2024 - Present)

The Flashlight Frog was first previewed on November 16, 2024, as part of an announcement in the official MetaZoo Discord server. It was the first Creature revealed as part of the revival by GamesQbator Labs, the first reveal of a returning illustrator with the announcement of PONCHO's return, and the first example of an illustrator redoing artwork for a Creature they had previously worked on, as PONCHO had illustrated the alternative artwork for Flashlight Frog in the 2022 Fan Art Contest mini set as well.

Origin
