Champions Hull KR travelled to their first league win of 2026 as they dispatched winless Huddersfield Giants.

After two defeats to begin their campaign, the Robins proceeded early and never looked likely to give up the two points.

Oliver Gildart, Tom Davies and Joe Burgess scored tries in the first half before two from star man Mikey Lewis after the break and another from Davies completed the task.

Hull KR's victory takes them up to 12th, above Huddersfield, who sunk to the bottom of the table after a 4th consecutive loss.

The diminished Giants handled simply one second-half try through talented young full-back George Flanagan Jr as they look set for another season of struggle.

Last year's treble winners have actually included the World Club title this season with their triumph over Brisbane Broncos last month, but that sandwiched successive league beats.

The shock loss to newcomers York Knights and the 58-6 hammering by Leeds Rhinos in Las Vegas have left them playing catch-up in Super League and they began this video game, bottom of the table and already eight points adrift of early leaders Wigan Warriors.

But Gildart's try inside three minutes got them up and running at the Accu Stadium. Jez Litten dropped the ball with a shot begging, however soon after, winger Davies produced a wise surface in the corner.

Huddersfield finished 10th last year however began that campaign with 10 straight beats and they have begun this one on the incorrect foot too.

That was obvious in handling errors within their own half, which handed the ball to their opponents and from Tyrone May's miss-pass, Burgess strolled one in.

Lewis scored the try of the game quickly into the second duration with a hallmark individual effort as he danced and dummied his method over after selecting the ball up just inside the Huddersfield half.

The Giants ultimately got on the scoreboard when Flanagan brilliantly caught Tui Lolohea's high kick and touched down, however it came at an as the full-back, the scorer of 5 of his side's 8 Super League attempts in 2026, injured himself on landing.

And it was only a short-lived blip for the Robins as Davies rounded off a slick handling relocation and Lewis got the final shot, accelerating his method over.

But as Super League takes a break for a week, these two sides will resume action next Saturday as they fulfill again at the very same ground in the last-16 of the Challenge Cup (15:00 GMT).

'Action in best direction' - Peters

Huddersfield Giants head coach Luke Robinson told BBC Radio Leeds:

"Our effort at the minute is mega. We have actually got so lots of males missing, a lot experience.

"I can't question our effort, the effort is excellent. But when you are missing out on that quality, you've got to be really good with the ball and at the minute we're spending way too much ball and making things way too difficult for ourselves.

"I think we completed at 65% in the first half. It does not matter which side you're betting, when you quit that much ball, fatigue will embed in and it'll come back to bite you."

"We desired to narrow our focus to our defence and completing hard.

"I believed our defence was really excellent today. That was a location we desired to tighten up and we did that.

"It wasn't best, we've got some work to do however it was a step in the right direction."
